About the Department
When the college was established in 2008-09, the Department of Economics was also established. It is one of the major departments of the college, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University for UG level, providing education in general and special level subjects of economics. The department runs BA and B.Com programs. Faculty members have published numerous research papers.

Vision:
To increase interest among students towards the economics subject and motivate them to stay updated with current economic developments.
Mission:
To provide students with a better understanding of global, national, and local economic issues through teaching, preparing them to confront societal challenges now and in the future.

- Semester V: Indian Economic Development -I
- The course will be useful for learners aiming towards careers in the government sector, policy analysis, and the social sector. It provides an overview of aspects of economic development with special reference to India and introduces the learner to the main concepts in economic and human development.
- Semester VI: Indian Economic Development -II
- This course covers the process of Economic Planning and the Development Goals. It aims to introduce the learner to the main concepts in Economic Planning and the planning process in India, while familiarizing them with Sustainable Development Goals and the relation between Economic Development and Environment.

- Objective: Interaction with industry personnel, understanding industrial procedures, and experiencing the working environment.
- Field/Industrial Visit Report (2023-24):
- Location: Sangamner Taluka Sahakari Dudh Utapadak Prakriya Sangh, Rajhance, and Sahakar Maharshi Bhausaheb Santuji Thorat Sahkari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd.
- Participants: 70 students and 8 faculty members.
- Objective: Provide insights on the production process, sales, distribution, packaging, warehousing, and factory working culture.
- Outcome: Enhanced practical understanding of industrial operations and linkage of academic knowledge with real-world applications.
